Seattle police fired four shots at a suspected bank robber in north Seattle early Wednesday evening.

Two children, ages 5 and 8, and their father were also injured when the suspect collided with their vehicle on Holman Road Northwest near Greenwood Avenue North. They were transported to Harborview Medical Center with minor injuries.

No officers were injured.

Police shot the man in his 30s, who was transported to Harborview Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his arm, said Helen Fitzpatrick of the Seattle Fire Department.

A spokesperson for the Seattle Police Department said the victim in the pickup was involved in a bank robbery in the Shoreline area, and possibly others. Police had been on the lookout for a silver Dodge Ram pickup after it was linked to the bank robbery.

An officer began trailing the truck in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood and multiple police cars moved to box it in. When the pickup driver reacted by ramming a patrol car, a detective fired four shots, hitting the man in the arm.

Police felt they needed to take immediate action because they knew the suspect was dangerous.

The officer who fired the shots is a veteran with the Seattle Police Department and FBI task force.
