Bremerton police have accused a 49-year-old Kitsap County man of seeking to have sex with an 11-year-old girl and offering to pay her parent $100.

Police said they were contacted June 24 by a witness who said Larry Wayne Rogers wanted to find a girl between the ages of 10 and 14 for sex.

Detectives arranged for the witness to have further conversations with Rogers in which he described specific sex acts and offered to provide prescription medication to ease the girl's pain and anxiety.

The witness arranged an initial meeting with the girl and Rogers was arrested Wednesday evening when he arrived at a convenience store parking lot where the meeting was to take place.

“He also admitted to viewing child pornography on his computer,” said Bremerton Police Sgt. Kevin Crane.

Police served a search warrant on his Bremerton area home and seized a computer and DVDs.

He was booked into the Kitsap County Jail for investigation of conspiracy to commit child rape.

In court Thursday afternoon, Rogers said he is a disabled vet with no money. Prosecutors also said he has mental health issues.

The judge set his bail at $200,000.
