Deputies Shoot Man Near Arlington

A man was hospitalized after two Snohomish County sheriff's deputies shot and wounded a gunman during an incident east of Arlington Thursday night.

Police said a 911 call was placed just before 10 p.m. by a woman who said an armed man was threatening her life.

Deputies arrived to find a gunman outside near the home's porch at 228th Street Northeast near 110th Avenue.

Police said they tried to talk the gunman into surrendering but the man refused orders from police. At some point two deputies opened fire on the man who was shot and wounded.

The man was taken to an area hospital and then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. The extent of his injuries is not known.

Everett police spokesman Robert Goetz said deputies have been at the home before for similar incidents of domestic violence.

The relationship between the gunman and the woman who called is not known.

Police remained on the scene Friday morning to investigate what happened. It was not known who fired the first shot or if the gunman fired shots at all.

The deputies involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave.
