A 16-year-old girl has been charged with two counts of assault in the third degree for allegedly using a pit bull to attack two women in SeaTac on June 21, said Dan Donohoe of the King County Prosecutor's Office.

At the time of the incident, deputies arrested the girl and three boys -- 11, 12 and 13 years old.

One woman said she saw the kids kicking the dog, Snaps, and stopped her car because she thought they needed help. The sheriff's office said the 16-year-old girl punched the woman with her fists while a boy brought the dog.

“One of the boys brought the pit bull over on a leash and the dog was encouraged to join in the fight, which the dog did, and bit this 63-year-old woman on the hand and on the thigh," said Sgt. John Urquhart of the King County Sheriff’s Office.

As the group ran off they were followed by another woman. She was attacked by the 16-year-old girl and the dog, Urquhart said. The 41-year-old Seattle woman suffered serious bite wounds to her arms, head and face.

“Dog comes over again on the leash and is really encouraged to go after this woman and as this is going on, the dog gets more and more vicious. And this woman suffered several bite wounds, including ripping her flesh on her forearm, all the way down to the bone,” Urquhart said.

The dog’s owner, Edward Kennebrew, said his sister was walking the dog and that the dog attacked the two women to defend his sister.

The 16-year-old girl was also charged with one count of minor in possession of liquor. If convicted as charged, the sentence range is 0 to 90 days in detention, 0 to 450 hours of community service and up the three years of probation.

The dog was turned over to King County Animal Care and Control.
