Fans Gather At EMP To Remember Jackson

SEATTLE -- Fans gathered at Seattle's Experience Music Tuesday morning to watch Michael Jackson's memorial.Though the building was not packed with people wishing to see the memorial on a big screen, fans said they were grateful to have a place to go.Rebekah LaSala and Belinda Carter had never met before Tuesday morning, but both share a love for Jackson's music.The two women met in line at the Experience Music Project where a live feed of the memorial service was playing.Though they could have watched the memorial at home, they said they wanted to be with other fans.Fifty to 60 fans gathered in EMP's JBL Theatre, including a man who met Jackson a few years ago at a restaurant in Orlando, Florida.He told KIRO he was amazed that the "King of Pop" posed for a photo with his daughter.As the service got underway, with Mariah Carey singing a Jackson 5 favorite,total strangers could be seen consoling each other in their grief.EMP has sidewalk chalk that fans are using to write messages about Michael Jackson.Inside the building, an authentic Michael Jackson jacket and glove he wore on tour in the 80s can be seen.
