Boy Bitten By Dog Is Airlifted From Campground

Posted: 10:05 am PDT August 3, 2009Updated: 10:08 am PDT August 3, 2009

A 5-year-old boy is in the hospital with serious facial injuries after being bitten by a dog, the Lewis County Sheriff's Office told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

Deputies said the boy was camping with family at the Lyons Club Campground in the town of Mineral. One of the family members had brought some Rottweilers along on the trip.

The dogs were eating bones in the campground and apparently the adults got distracted with other things for a moment until they heard the 5-year-old boy screaming and turned to see a dog still on top of him.

The family stopped the attack and called 911. The boy was taken to Morton General hospital but later airlifted to Harborview for treatment. Because of privacy laws, his current condition is unavailable.
