Posted: 6:45 am PDT August 16, 2009Updated: 6:55 am PDT August 16, 2009

Parents in the Kent School District will likely start getting letters next week warning about a possible teachers' strike.

Administrators mailed the letters out Saturday.

The district said talks with its teachers union are at an impasse.

A state mediator is being called in.

If there is no settlement by August 26 union members are scheduled to take a strike vote.
