A Ferndale woman who admitted to poisoning malts at a Whatcom County Dairy Queen will serve more than a year in prison, after she was convicted in court Thursday.

In February, surveillance video caught 44-year-old Alexandra Margot Georgia Dale pouring Ajax into the restaurant’s malt dispenser.

Dale’s “tainted malts” sickened two men who reported burning sensations in their mouth after consuming the beverages. One man even went to the hospital where he stayed for two days for treatment of ulcers in his esophagus.

After Dale was arrested in March she first told police that she “accidentally poured the chemical into the malt dispenser,” but later admitted to intentionally adding in the chemical.

Dale’s motive for trying to poison the malts was not mentioned during the sentencing.
