Pilot Rescued From Flipped Seaplane Near Shilshole Marina

SEATTLE -- The pilot of a sea plane was rescued after his aircraft flipped over while landing near the Shilshole Bay Marina in the waters of Puget Sound Friday morning.
SLIDESHOW: Flipped Floatplane Towed To DockPilot Roger Collins told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Chris Egert that he was flying from Bremerton to Paine Field when his plane had a complete electrical failure, including the landing gear. Collins said he had to land quickly, but upon hitting the water, the wheels came out of the pontoons and caused the plane to flip.

Collins was rescued by boaters in the area.

He suffered a bump on the head but refused treatment.Callers reported the accident at 6:45 a.m. Friday to emergency dispatchers. The plane was towed to the nearby marina.
