Posted: 1:23 pm PDT August 30, 2009Updated: 2:07 pm PDT August 30, 2009

A representative of the Kent Education Association said there won't be school in Kent on Monday.

Representatives from the Kent school district and the teachers union met Sunday to try and reach an agreement on a new teachers contract, KIRO 7 reported.

Both sides met with a mediator, but had failed to reach an agreement by Sunday afternoon.

The teachers plan to hold a vigil Sunday night at the ShoWare Center at 8 p.m. Sunday night.

KIRO 7 has a news crew covering this developing story and will have the latest on our news at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
