BOTHELL, Wash. -- The owners of some horses in Bothell said their animals can tell if winter will come early this year.Corinne Logan said her Fjord mare, Mina, started getting her winter coat six to eight weeks ago during July's heat wave."We started getting concerned that there was some sort of metabolic syndrome or something going on with her. We had the vet come out," said Corinne. Corinne asked around and found about a dozen other Fjord horse owners in northern states who had herds also getting thick and wooly coats much earlier than normal. The professionals at the National Weather Service said September through November looks to be warmer than normal.
