The Lewis County prosecutor is releasing a man arrested in connection with the alcohol poisoning death of a 15-year-old Onalaska boy on Sept. 21.

Michael Golden said he's waiting for the results of toxicology tests before filing charges against the 28-year-old man who was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of second-degree manslaughter in connection with the death of Nick Barns.

At the time of his death, Barnes' clinical blood alcohol level was .38, over four times the legal limit for an adult driving while under the influence.

Police said the man provided alcohol to numerous teenagers, including Barnes, at a party held at his home.

When other adults arrived at the home, they found Barnes passed out in the front yard, detectives said.

Police said the man took Barnes to Providence Hospital, but the boy was not breathing when he arrived at the hospital.

The man then left, police said. Doctors performed live-saving measures on Barnes, but he died.
