Driver Sought In Pedestrian Hit-And-Run In Seattle

Police are seeking the driver of a vehicle who hit a man in a Seattle crosswalk and left the scene.

The victim is at Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, said Seattle police.

The 42-year-old man was struck when he was walking in a crosswalk near Lake City Way Northeast and 20th Avenue Northeast at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Witnesses told police the driver was travelling at a high rate of speed southwest on Lake City Way Northeast when the driver turned south onto 20th Avenue Northeast, cutting the corner in such a manner that he drove into the northbound lanes.

Police said he hit the man as he crossed east to west in the marked crosswalk just south of Lake City Way NE.

The suspect immediately fled the scene.

Witnesses said the vehicle involved is a dark blue 4-door sports car with a license plate is similar to "855-YUM". The car may have damage to the windshield and front bumper on the driver’s side.
