Cockpit Smoke Forces Flight Back to Sea-Tac Gate

Posted: 9:01 pm PDT October 7, 2009Updated: 9:37 am PDT October 8, 2009

An Alaska Airlines flight returned to its gate at Sea-Tac Airport Wednesday night, after a smoke indicator light went on in the cockpit.

Alaska Airlines Caroline Boren tells KIRO News that the Sacramento-bound flight had pushed back from the gate, and was getting ready for take off. That's when the smoke indicator light went on.

The 737-400 returned to the gate on the north satellite, and passengers were evacuated. Mechanics were called in, and found smoke in the cockpit caused by a blown breaker. No smoke was found in the main cabin, says Boren.

Another plane has been brought in, and will load up with its 62 passengers and five crew members around 9.30PM, Boren said.

No one was injured.
