Sgt. Randy Lambert said homeowners in the area should secure bird feeders and garbage cans that are known to attract bears. Lambert said the bear will continue to visit the area as long as a food source exists.Resident Scott Richardson said he and his son have seen evidence of the bear and a neighbor was able to take photos of the visiting bear in action. Agents set a trap with sardines, doughnuts and bacon grease in an attempt to trap the animal and take it back into the Cascades. In the meantime, Arlington school officials warned students not to walk alone to school as a cautionary measure. Authorities don't believe the black bear poses much of a threat because bears are usually spooked by humans.
