Police had previously said releasing information about the car could compromise their investigation into Saturday's shooting. Also released Thursday was an in-depth, mostly psychological profile of the suspect. In a statement posted on the Seattle Police Department Web site Thursday afternoon, police said the techniques the shooter used suggested that the man had extensive practice with and an interest in weapons, perhaps developed though a previous job or hobby. The profile said the shooter had likely experienced a significant personal crisis in the recent past such as a divorce, death, job loss or other failure. He may have been outspoken about what he perceived to be a deeply personal grievance.

The man may have been notably absent for a time on Halloween night in the hours before midnight.Police said that though the man shot a police officer, the shooter may in fact admire police and even act like them. The car may have been damaged by gunshots.
Though investigators are focusing on the shooter as a lone male, they have not ruled out the possibility that the crime may have been committed by a small group or that there were others involved in the planning or actual attack.Police are asking the public to consider information in the profile and whether they may know the person or have noted behaviors or activities that suggest involvement in the shooting. Also Thursday, a Seattle police honor guard raised a flag on the Space Needle to honor Officer Brenton. The flag shows a police badge with a black band through the middle and Brenton's badge number -- 6699. Police continue to look for the killer who shot him Halloween night and wounded a rookie officer as they were parked reviewing a traffic stop. Brenton's funeral will be held a 1 p.m. Friday at the KeyArena. More than 1,000 cars are expected to take part in a procession that leaves at 9 a.m. from the University of Washington on a route through the city.
