Storm Pounds Region With Lightning, Thunder, Hail

Lightning, thunder, hail and heavy rain slammed the Puget Sound region from a storm that will dump up to 2 feet of snow in the mountains.

"The stormy weather is far from over," said meteorologist Sam Argier in the KIRO 7 Weather Center. "It was quite a weather show overnight as thunderstorms roared across Puget Sound." WATCH IT: Weathercast From San Argier

The Shoreline Fire Department said a 40-year-old man walking his dog with his wife in Hamlin Park was killed when he was hit by a falling tree. Full story

A KIRO 7 photographer captured hail pounding the pavement in KIRO 7's Belltown parking lot just after 11:30 p.m.

Hail Hits Belltown

Several lightning flashes followed by loud thunder woke people up across Seattle late Thursday night and early Friday morning.

Power crews continue to work on outages across Western Washington. Seattle City Light reported power outages for about 8,000 customers and Tacoma Power, about 6,000.

During the morning drive time, there were numerous accidents and a lot of standing water on the roads. See Traffic Anchor Jenni Hogan's blog.

In the mountains, a winter storm watch is in effect through Saturday for the Cascades with up to 2 feet of new snow forecast.

A flood warning for the Skokomish River in Mason County ended. The river was cresting Friday morning at 15.6 feet near Potlatch.
