Lost Hunter Found After Night In Woods

Posted: 10:36 am PST November 9, 2009

A hunter from Lake Tapps is OK after spending a night lost in the woods near Packwood in Lewis County.

Lewis County Sheriff's Office officials told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News the man had been hunting with a friend near Snyder Lake in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest just outside of Packwood when he became separated from his friend shortly after midnight Saturday.

The man tried to find his way for a short time but then spent the rest of a cold, wet night under the shelter of some trees.

The next morning he was trying to find his way out when, at about 9:50 a.m., search and rescue teams located him only 300 yards from his vehicle that he couldn't see over dense terrain.

The man was cold and wet but uninjured. He has since been reunited with friends and family.
