SEATTLE -- A 65-foot boat is sinking and leaking fuel at a dock on the south side of Harbor Island, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.Workers noticed the boat sinking at about 3 a.m. at the Harbor Island Marina on the Duwamish River. The former fishing boat rode lower in the water during each in a series of live reports on KIRO 7 Eyewitness News Tuesday morning, said reporter Rick Price, who added he could smell the strong scent of diesel fuel leaking from the vessel."When we first got there, the pilothouse was visible at the dock. By 7:30 a.m., the pilothouse was submerged to the roof on one side," Price said. The boat has two 600-gallon tanks, said Larry Altose of the Department of Ecology, but it wasn't known whether they were full. The Coast Guard also responded, along with workers from a private contracting firm who placed a boom in the water to contain the fuel. A diver went into the water to seal the fuel tank.
