The final segment of the Link Light Rail to Sea-Tac Airport is set to open Dec. 19 at 10 a.m., sources said.

The final link will provide travelers with an easy way to get to the airport.

The new station is located near the northeast corner of the main airport parking garage, just west of the corner of the intersection of South 176th Street and International Boulevard and directly connects pedestrians to the airport ticketing concourse.

The trains will run from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Saturday and from 6 a.m. to midnight on Sundays.

By 2020, approximately 3,000 riders are expected to board trains at the SeaTac/Airport Station every day, Sound Transit said.

Prior to its opening, riders had to switch to a Metro bus to make the final leg.

After five years of work, Sound Transit's new mass transit system opened July 20.

By 2016, a $1.9 billion tunnel will reach the University of Washington . And voters have already approved spending $18 billion to extend lines to suburban stops in Lynnwood, Federal Way and Redmond.
