Woman Arrested In Theft Of Swine Flu Vaccines

SEATTLE -- A 37-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the theft of dozens of doses of swine flu vaccines from the Providence Home Care and Hospice near Olympia.Detectives arrested Alissa K. Yoder of West Liberty, Ohio, Thursday afternoon for second-degree theft.The theft happened sometime between Nov. 4 and Nov. 6 and police said there was no sign of forced entry at the facility. According to investigators, the robber took two vials of vaccine capable of delivering 10 doses each. A third vial of vaccine was compromised and is now useless. Yoder is a contractor for the hospice center and had access to the storage area, said the Thurston County Sheriff’s Department.During the investigation, at least two people said Yoder admitted to them that she stole the vaccines, deputies said.She was booked into jail, but was released. Deputies said she did not admit to the theft.No vaccine has been recovered.
