Mountlake Terrace Rejects Plans For Marijuana Shop

Posted: 11:45 am PST November 15, 2009Updated: 12:03 pm PST November 15, 2009

Two men are threatening to sue Mountlake Terrace after the city rejected their request to open a medical marijuana dispensary.

Todd Madison and Aaron Panagos applied for a business license in September to open the for-profit Botanical Urban Dispensary Service, the Herald of Everett reported.

Both men said they've been using medically authorized marijuana to manage pain for years and have run their business out of their homes since the beginning of the year.

The city maintains that Washington's medical marijuana law doesn't allow storefront dispensaries.

The law said that patients can grow their own or designate someone to grow it for them, but such providers can only supply to one patient at any one time, not the many customers who would be served by a dispensary.
