SEATTLE -- A Sound Transit Light Rail train derailed near the SoDo train yard late Monday afternoon. No riders were on the train just after 3 p.m. when the train was coming into service and it derailed. The operator was not injured when the train came to a stop sitting across two sets of tracks.Officials have not yet said what caused the trail to go off its tracks or if weather was a factor. The train was blocking the southbound tracks, so all trains need to use the northbound tracks. Service was still running, but trains were going every 20 minutes instead of every 7-and-a-half minutes.Officials said the train is seriously damaged and will not be back in service anytime soon. The tracks, nor the power system were damaged.
