Police are searching for the man they believed fatally shot a 40-year-old man in downtown Olympia Monday morning.

A warrant has been issued for Robert Maddaus for first-degree murder in connection to the shooting at about 2:45 a.m. in the 1700 block of Capitol Way.

The victim, Shaun Peterson, was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.

Maddaus is associated with addresses in Rochester, Bucoda, and Tumwater. He may still possess one or more handguns related to the murder and should be presumed armed and dangerous.
