Sedro-Woolley Man Dies While Chopping Down Tree

SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. -- A 24-year-old Sedro-Woolley man died Thursday when a tree he was chopping down fell on him, said Rebecca Hover of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.The incident was reported about 1:40 p.m. in the 7500 block of Silvana Terrace Road in unincorporated Stanwood.The man, reportedly employed as a private contractor with a logging and tree service company, was doing storm cleanup work in a heavily wooded area on private property.He was using a chainsaw to bring down an unstable tree that had fallen and was partially suspended by the branches of nearby trees when a large section of that tree fell on him, Hover said.He was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man working with him was not injured.Deputies determined the incident was an accident.
