The prosecutor in Perugia, Italy, is outlining his case against former University of Washington student Amanda Knox Friday during closing arguments.

Knox was arrested and charged with the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher two years ago.

KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Jeff Dubois spoke to Knox's parents, who are in Seattle.

Curt Knox and Amanda's mother, Edda Mellas, said Friday will be an anxious and stressful day but they're relieved there's finally a light at the end of the tunnel.

Knox and her former boyfriend, who is also standing trial, deny accusations that Kercher was killed during a drug-induced sex game.

During Dubois' interview with Knox's parents, they said they were getting constant updates on the closing arguments via e-mail.

Knox's parents said they're worried the jury, which hasn't been sequestered during the trial, will believe the Italian tabloid headlines instead of basing their verdict solely on the evidence.

While they said they don't want to get their hopes up, Knox's parents are already planning a homecoming.

Dubois said Knox's parents are heading to Italy next week and have bought a return ticket home for their daughter in hopes she will be acquitted.

After two days of closing arguments, the jury is expected to get the case Dec. 4.

A verdict could come as early as the next day.

If convicted of murder, Knox would likely spend the rest of her life in an Italian prison.
