Gold Bar Couple Pleads Guilty To Animal Cruelty

SEATTLE -- Owners of a North South puppy mill pleaded guilty Friday to six counts of animal cruelty.Jason and Serena Larsen both pleaded guilty to six counts of first-degree animal cruelty.The Larsen’s home was raided in January 2009 and more than 150 emaciated and dehydrated dogs were recovered.The animals were so filthy and conditions so horrific that one Snohomish County sheriff's deputy described it as 'utterly disgusting.'In the Larsen's garage 58 small dogs were found standing in their own waste. In the attic, another 79 dogs were in rows of cages stacked atop each other.Prosecutors said all of it was a breeding ground for dogs in a business that generated millions of dollars a year.The Larsens left court declining to answer any questions about their pleas.Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 25. They could be sent to prison for six years.
