Mom, Baby Killed In Beacon Hill Identified

A woman and her 3-month-old daughter were found dead in a Beacon Hill home Tuesday and police have identified a person of interest, said Seattle police spokeswoman Renee Witt.

Witt said a woman went to the home in the 1300 block of South Ferdinand Street and found her daughter and granddaughter dead around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Both the 28-year-old woman and her daughter had gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead, said Seattle police.

The woman who found her daughter and granddaughter works at Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria. The owner of the pizzeria released a statement that identified her as Renee Morgan.

The statement also identified the victims as Jennifer Morgan and her daughter Ema.

"I've been in touch with the family on a daily basis. We are trying to get through it one day at a time," said Joe Fugere of Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria.

Fugere said Renee was the restaurant's first employees and he knew the victims well.

Police are looking for 29-year-old Daniel Thomas Hicks, who they are calling a person of interest. Hicks is a light-skinned black man, about 6 feet 4 inches tall, 160 pounds and has brown eyes and short hair.

He may be driving a white 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck with a chrome tool box in the bed and with a license plate of A68135Z.

Hicks is considered armed and dangerous. He was previously convicted of second-degree malicious mischief.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call either 911 or the Seattle Police Homicide Unit at 206-233-5000.

If a tip leads to an arrest and the filing of charges, callers may qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000. Calls are taken 24 hours a day. A memorial fund for the Morgan family has been set up at the Columbia City Branch of Washington Federal Savings Bank.
