Man Charged In Sexual Assault At Point Defiance Park

A 46-year-old man has been charged in the sexual assault of a developmentally disabled man in a restroom at the Point Defiance Boathouse.

Pierce County prosecutors have issued a warrant for Jerry A. Johnson on a count of second-degree rape. Johnson is also registered as a level-three sex offender in King County.

The incident occurred the afternoon of Feb. 20. The 24-year-old victim had been fishing on the pier when a man enticed him into the restroom and assaulted him.

Investigators identified Johnson through witness statements, Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

Johnson is a black man, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 155 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.
