TACOMA, Wash. -- A woman is suing Pierce County after a nude photo of her appeared on a Pierce County law enforcement Web site.

The woman, who asked to be identified as DC, said she is suing Pierce County for invasion of privacy and for violating her rights.

DC said she was humiliated when she discovered a nude photograph of her appeared on a law enforcement website.

"(The pictures) were all full view of my genitalia from the back and they were close up. I found out that two officers positioned me in the vehicle to take the photos and after they were laughing about them," said DC.

The incident happened in February 2008. Police said DC was arrested for drunken driving and was handcuffed and put in the back seat of a squad car. When deputies returned to the car they found her with her pants down after trying to slip off her cuffs, Pierce County Sheriff's Department spokesman Ed Troyer said.

"She was arrested and she was trying to get out of her cuffs and what he was doing was he was trying to take a picture of her getting out of her cuffs," said Troyer.

According to the lawsuit, the deputy photographed DC's and genitals and uploaded the image onto a law enforcement database. DC claims it was for their amusement.

"If (the officer) thought he was doing something wrong he sure wouldn't have put it on the Web site for everybody to see that he was doing it. So there were no secrets on his end," said Troyer.

The deputy who took the picture was reprimanded.

The Pierce County Sheriff's office said the picture was stored in a secure law enforcement database to be used as part of a criminal investigation and the public did not have access to the photo.

DC said the explanation is not enough and fears the picture was circulated. She wants the sheriff's office to take more responsibility.

"It's hard for me to go to work every day. It's hard for me to face people. I don't know just walking down the street or being at the mall if someone has seen those photos of me," said DC.

DC said she does not remember anything from the night she was arrested.

The drunken driving charges were eventually dropped.
