Suicidal Man Assaults 2 Bremerton Officers

Two Bremerton police officers ended up in the hospital when a suicidal man attacked them, said Det. Sgt. Kevin Crane.

The officers were called to a home on Shorewood shortly after 8 p.m. Monday. A woman at the home told police her boyfriend was trying to kill himself and had taken several pills along with alcohol, Crane said.

Police and the Bremerton Fire Department responded and at first the man cooperated. Without warning the man turned on officers, pushing one into a counter top and breaking several of his ribs, Crane said.

A second officer also had ribs broken when the man came after him.

The officers put out a call for help and a Port Orchard officer arrived on the scene, tazed the suicidal man and took him into custody, Crane said.

Both Bremerton officers were treated for broken ribs and released.
