SEATTLE -- A man who brought a busy downtown street to a halt and prompted a response from a bomb squad in downtown Seattle last week had made several bizarre claims before making bomb threats, Seattle police said.A Seattle police probable cause document said Vladimir Augustine came into the front lobby of the Union Gospel Mission on Second Avenue on March 12 and demanded to be let into the dayroom.Documents said Augustine claimed to be a vampire and was going to make a meal of all the people there and also said he was a "space cowboy."Witnesses said when Augustine raised his arm they saw a metal object resembling a pipe bomb taped to his arm, probable cause documents said.Augustine then asked a witness to remove the device and said he was going to blow the place up, documents said. The employee told Augustine to leave and called police. When officers arrived, Augustine was ordered to the ground and told to remove the device. The man complied and was eventually taken into police custody.Bomb technicians learned the device was made of a pipe with a brass bushing in the center, two brass couplings and two threaded metal plugs.Augustine later told police he made the threats because he needed help, the document said.He was charged with threats to bomb or injure property on Tuesday. His bail was set at $150,000.
A Sylvester Stallone action fest, a new Drew Barrymore romantic comedy, a romantic drama starring Julia Roberts and a buddy comedy starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are among the new movies out in August.
