Poulsbo Fire Seen From Highway 3 Destroys Shop

A fire destroyed a shop in the Finn Hill neighborhood in Poulsbo Wednesday night.

The Poulsbo Fire Department and North Kitsap Fire and Rescue responded to the scene near Wal-Mart around 9 p.m. and found the shop fully engulfed with flames.

Drivers on nearby Highway 3 could see the structure as flames lit up the night sky.

No one was in the shop at the time and no injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation by the Kitsap County Fire Marshal.

The shop belonged to a 43 year old man who said he had washed his boat earlier in the day and lit a wood stove to dry out the boat.

Tools, welding equipment and the boat were all destroyed in the fire, and the shop is a total loss.

The owner’s work truck, which was stored near the shop, was not damaged.

The owner is insured.
