Police: Sailor Bites, Kicks Seattle Officers During Arrest

SEATTLE -- A Navy sailor bit and kicked Seattle police officers while they were arresting him for DUI, said the Seattle Police Department.Police were called to Seattle Center at about 1:25 a.m. Thursday by a security guard who saw the sailor and another man crashing through several billboards used to keep vehicles from entering the grounds.Police said both men were clearly intoxicated and when the officers tried to take one of the suspects into custody he began to resist. Officers told him to stop resisting, but he bit one of the officers on the hand and repeatedly kicked at them, police said.He was handcuffed and as officers were putting him in the patrol car he rolled onto his back and kicked them, police said. He grazed one officer’s chest and kicked the other officer in the leg.When the suspect was transported to North Precinct, officers said the sailor continued to be belligerent and asked, “This is how you do the military?” The officer asked the suspect how he thought he Navy would feel about his actions, and he replied, “(Expletive) the Navy. I don’t give a (expletive) about the Navy.”The sailor was booked into King County Jail for investigation of assault. Police are also requesting additional charges of DUI, reckless driving, hit-and-run and trespassing.The other man was interviewed and released. Police said he was not driving the vehicle.
