At Microsoft Saturday afternoon it was March Madness in Mathematics.

150 of Washington's brightest students competed in the MathCounts State finals. Students from 55 different middle schools competed in problem solving matches in algebra, geometry and statistics.

Bellevue's Odle Middle School won the first place team award followed by Seattle's Lakeside Middle; Redmond Jr. High; and Seattle Country Day School.

In the individual category, the winner was Darryl Wu from Lakeside Middle followed by Kevin Yang of Odle Middle; Kevin Liu of Odle Middle; and Kolya Malkin of Redmond Jr. High.

All of the winners from Saturday's competition will compete at the national MathCounts competition in Orlando this May. They will be coached by Min Liu of Odle Middle School.
