BREMERTON, Wash. -- A light earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 was recorded early Friday, and a number of Puget Sound-area residents said they felt it and saw items rattle on shelves.
Damage is rare from a quake of that magnitude, and there were no reports of damage from callers to KIRO 7 Eyewitness News who said they felt the tremor. As recorded on seismographs at the University of Washington in Seattle, the quake occurred at 12:18 a.m. and was centered 34 miles beneath the surface two miles east of Bremerton and 19 miles west of Seattle. It was initially recorded at 3.2 magnitude, but the intensity was revised after a seismologist examined the data, according to a regional earthquake Web site.
