Deputy Arrested For Alleged DUI

A King County sheriff's deputy is on paid leave after she was arrested twice in two days for investigation of drunken driving.

The 28-year-old deputy has not been formally charged in either case.

In both cases, she was off duty and driving her personal car.

Police said her first arrest was about 1 a.m. on Sunday, March 28, in Kirkland, after her car jumped a curb and crashed into a fence.

She was taken to the Kirkland police station, where one of her two blood alcohol tests registered .25. The state's legal limit is .08.

About 34 hours later, she was arrested again, this time by fellow King County sheriff's deputies, after she drove her car into a ditch.

No one was injured in either incident.

The sheriff's department has begun an internal investigation.
