Police arrested a man they said resembles a sketch of the Bellevue Groper, but then released him Thursday night because they don't have enough evidence to charge him in the series of attacks.

Suspect In Bellevue Attacks

The 20-year-old native of Guam was arrested at his home, which is near where some of the attacks took place, police said.

Police said they do not have enough evidence to charge the suspect within 72 hours, as required by law, so they released him.

"In this case, the only charge we have against him is those multiple counts of indecent liberties. We are not yet prepared to file charges," said Michael Chui, a spokesman with the Bellevue Police Department.

Over six months, the man has allegedly assaulted nine women in Bellevue.

All of the attacks occurred in the Bellevue Crossroads, often at bus stops, where the attacker grabbed women in sexually suggested ways.

"We do firmly believe he is responsible for all the assault in Bellevue," said Chui. "He is the Bellevue groper."

Police were continuing their investigation.
