Convicted Sex Offender Found Working As Coach

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- Police have arrested a convicted sex offender who was working as a local youth coach and umpire, years after he failed to register following his release from prison.Parents of players in the South West Athletic Club were furious to learn of the arrest of Myron Davis, 34, who was convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a child in California in 1995."They told me that they had done a check on him a year ago and everything came up clean," one parent told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News. "And since then, they don't know why nothing showed up."Parents wanted to know how Davis managed to get a position with a sports club, working with kids who are the same age as his victims, boys ages ten to 12.Davis was released from prison in 1998, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported. He moved to Washington and was notified by King County that he was expected to register as a sex offender in November 2000.Instead, Davis vanished. Police found his home, but by May, 2003, Davis had already been evicted.An arrest warrant was issued in January.Police caught up with Davis Tuesday morning and took him into custody.Myron Davis' bail is set at $30,000.He is listed as a Level Two sex offender.
