Lynnwood Man Charged With Stalking Canadian Pop Singer Avril Lavigne

Posted: 8:06 a.m. PDT August 29, 2004

A Lynnwood man has been charged with

felony stalking of Canadian pop singer Avril Lavigne's parents.

Prosecutors have charged 30-year-old Lynnwood man with felony

stalking, accusing him of harassing Canadian pop singer Avril

Lavigne's parents and violating a court order by trying to contact

her.

30-year-old James B- Speedy also allegedly violated a court

order by trying to contact Lavigne.

Prosecutors say Speedy's obsession began in 2003, when he

started writing the teenage rocker. After finding out where her

parents lived, he started writing them, too.

Speedy was arrested April seventh, after police searched his

home in north suburban Seattle the same day Lavigne played a free

concert at a mall south of Seattle.
