A 4-year-old Lake Stevens girl was killed by "blunt-force trauma to the head and trunk," the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's office said.

Sheriff's detectives are investigating the death last Friday of Sirita Sotelo as a homicide, and are looking at several people in connection with the death, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported. No one has been arrested.

Hours before the girl died, a woman who identified herself as the girl's aunt called a poison control center.

She said the girl might have ingested some gun cleaner and had a mild stomach ache. She was told to give the child some milk or ice cream.

When the poison center called back a couple of hours later, there was no answer.

Sirita Sotela had been in and out of foster care from the time she was born, said officials with Child Protective Services.

Officials with the agency checked a number of times for potential abuse or neglect.

Her mother, Patricia Sotelo, is in jail, serving time for a drug conviction.

The girl lived with her father, stepmother and four other children.
