Driver Keeps Runaway Truck From Causing Injury

SEATTLE -- A driver whose truck lost its brakes managed to steer the runaway vehicle away from pedestrians as it hurtled down James Street Hill to Pioneer Square in Seattle on Sunday, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

Witnesses and police call John Garrett a hero after he avoided hitting people on the street and a loaded Metro bus before crashing into several unoccupied cars parked near James and Yesler.
Surveillance cameras from local businesses showed the truck flipping and plowing into cars near the so-called Sinking Ship garage in Pioneer Square.Garrett suffered only minor abrasions and was the only person hurt in the incident.
