SEATTLE -- It's about to be illegal to throw most electronic equipment into the trash in King County.Starting Saturday, King County residents won't be able to dump computers, monitors, TVs, laptops and cell phones at transfer stations or into household garbage cans. Included in the ban are products containing mercury, such as "button" batteries, florescent light bulbs, and mercury switches.
Instead, people will have to take such electronic items to local businesses.For computers, monitors, laptops, cell phones and televisions, contact a business in the "Take It Back Network."
