Posted: 10:39 am PDT June 4, 2006Updated: 10:47 am PDT June 4, 2006

Governor Chris Gregoire says she will NOT compel any National Guard troops to serve on the Mexican border if they're asked.

Gregoire says if soldiers volunteer for the duty, she'll support their request.

President Bush wants to post six-thousand troops along the border of four southwest states during the next year as the government hires and trains new Border Patrol agents to capture people trying to come to the U-S illegally.
