Bail Set For Hit-And-Run Suspect

A judge set bail at $50,000 on Monday for a man arrested over the weekend in a hit-and-run crash that killed an Arlington man.

The 25-year-old man told police he knew he hit someone early Friday morning but didn't stop because he was "in shock" and didn't understand what he had done.

According to a written statement issued by Police Chief John L. Gray, the arrest resulted from publicity on the discovery of flecks of gold paint at the crash scene. Police appealed to the public for information on a gold vehicle with front-end damage, and a caller's tip led officers to the suspect.

The body of John McCamey, 22, was found in a road. He was walking home from a bar when he was struck, police said.

McCamey left a wife and a 15-month-old daughter.
