Local Mother Creating Parenting TV Channel

Posted: 3:01 pm PDT June 27, 2006

Laurie Simons’ son introduced to her to the field of video production, and from there Simons had an idea.

The Parent Television Network: A television channel created just for parents.

Simons, along with a group of advisors and board of directors, put together a plan to create a television network that would provide a resource for mothers, fathers, grandparents and caregivers.

The network would use a Web site that board members compare to a backyard fence -- one that will link parenting communities together and get parents involved.

Simmons and her team are producing four programs for the PTVN.

Currently, one half hour program airs several times a month on the educational channels of Seattle Community College and Bellevue Community College.

For more information visit the PTVN Web site.
