Updated: 8:35 am PDT July 14, 2006

Fire raged through an unoccupied three-story building in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood Friday morning, destroying the structure that was under construction, along with at least three cars.

Flames spread to four neighboring houses, at least two of them occupied, before firefighters got the upper hand.

The Seattle Fire Department said one firefighter and one resident of a burning house suffered minor injuries.

The fire was roaring when firefighters arrived at about 6 a.m. in the mostly residential section about four blocks north of Lake Union.

Video from Chopper 7 showed flames soaring from the burning home in the 3800 block of Interlake Avenue.

Firefighters were still putting out hot spots two hours after arriving at the scene.

Neighbors told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News the home under construction hadn't been worked on in some time.

Firefighters said winds blew an ember from the fire to a home half a block away, starting a wall fire there.

There was no immediate estimate of damage. Investigators are looking for the cause.
