In January of 2012 camera crews and social media juggernauts descended on the streets of Seattle to transform 7th & Pike into the streets of Paris.
The catch? Stage the scene and videotape the action without the public knowing in advance.
Complete with cafes, baguettes, cyclists and local actors, SeattleInsider was there as a red wallet holding a Venture Capital One card was placed in the middle of the sidewalk to start the domino effect.
Cameras rolled and actors waited patiently for the first passerby to pick up the wallet. What happened next was pure magic.
It was a flash mob meeting a Hollywood set.
Planters dropped from the sky, actors appeared out of nowhere and in just seconds the street outside the Convention Center became a street in Paris. In the blink of an eye a Seattleite was whisked away on a trip of a lifetime.
Why was this happening?
Venture, the frequent flyer card from Capital One, was conducting a program in Seattle titled "Venture Adventure" where consumers can win a vacation of a lifetime.
This video was produced to introduce the contest to the consumer.
Through Friday, Mar. 10th, consumers are able to go online and drop an image of themselves into one of many iconic travel destinations for the chance to win the dream vacation of a lifetime.
