Do you remember the days of building a wooden hydroplane to pull behind your bike? In honor of every Seattleite who has this memory, Seafair is partnering with McLendon Hardware and Boeing to re-energize this longstanding tradition and give fans (ages 8-18) the opportunity to win a spot in the Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade.
Build & Win!
Beginning June 17 through July 10, visit http://www.seafair.com to download your wooden hydroplane boat-building instructions. Take the instructions to any McLendon Hardware store to receive a 10 percent discount on your building supplies.
Once the high-speed craft is built, take a picture, fill out an entry form and submit them to Seafair at http://www.seafair.com. Sixty lucky kids will be selected to ride their bikes in the Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade (July 25) towing their Wooden Hydroplane and ten of them will win a new bicycle, courtesy the Seafair Clowns.
Need Expert Advice? Hydroplane legend Chip Hanauer will be at the McLendon Hardware Renton location on Saturday June 20, from 10 a.m.-noon to give each little racer design tips and advice on how to build the best and fastest wooden hydroplane.
