KIRO 7 Eyewitness News Traffic Anchor Jenni Hogan was the first to be knighted at the official kickoff for Seafair.
Master of Ceremonies Pat Cashman hosted Wednesday’s festivities to commemorate Seattle's premier eight-week summer festival that runs June 20 to August 19, culminating in the Albert Lee Cup hydroplane races and the Boeing Air Show featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.
This year’s Seafair King Neptune, former Sonic basketball player Slick Watts, and Queen Alcyone, former King County Sheriff’ Sue Rahr, were announced by Seafair President/CEO Beth Knox and crowned by 2011 Miss Seafair Veronica Quintero.
Other Seafair groups, including the Seafair Pirates and Clowns, were in attendance at Westlake Plaza, where a vintage hydroplane is on display.
Hogan, who is a Celebrity Runner in this year’s Torchlight Run, was knighted as “Duchess of Social Saviness.”
Hydroplane & Raceboat Museum Executive Director David Williams was knighted as well.
